Hi, I’m William Davis, I’m the person behind Insider American.
I didn’t set out to build a travel blog. I started by driving to small towns within a few hours of home, mostly on weekends, because I got tired of the same crowded, overpriced destinations everyone else was posting about. Somewhere along the way, exploring quiet backroads and overlooked towns across the U.S. turned into a habit, and the habit turned into this site.
Insider American is where I write about that: the small towns, hidden cabins, scenic drives, and local food spots that don’t usually make it onto the big travel lists. Every place I write about, I’ve either visited myself or researched carefully enough to give you an honest, practical guide, not a rehash of the same five attractions every other site mentions.

Why “micro tourism”?
I believe the best trips aren’t always the farthest ones. A lot of the most memorable travel experiences I’ve had were two or three hours from home, a small town with one good diner, a trail nobody talks about, a festival that never trends online. That’s the whole premise of this site: you don’t need a big budget or a long flight to have a real adventure.
